Bacchus Quartet by Andrew Price

The Bacchus String Quartet was formed in Manchester in 2000.  All four members studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where they received tuition from many renowned international musicians, both as individuals and as chamber musicians.  As well as playing with the Quartet, the current members are either full time or freelance with the BBC Philharmonic, the Hallé, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The Quartet has always had a reputation for using only the finest musicians in the North West.  Previous members of the Quartet currently hold important chamber and orchestral posts in London, the USA and Northern Ireland.

The Bacchus Quartet has performed all over the UK and in 2002 recorded its first CD featuring a selection of popular classics.  If you would like to order a CD please use the CONTACT page to submit your details.

As an ensemble, the Bacchus Quartet specialises in light entertainment and background music for weddings and corporate events but also regularly gives formal chamber music concerts.  The Quartet is also frequently invited to take part in education work, primarily in the performing of GCSE and A-level set works but also in workshops and recordings of student compositions for examination purposes.

Recent engagements include concerts as part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic lunchtime series.  Apart from its own CD, the Bacchus Quartet has recorded backing tracks for a number of popular artists, library music for EMI and KPM as well as video games.  In 2006 the Quartet toured Europe with the band Anathema and appears on their latest DVD, "A Moment in Time".  Forthcoming engagements include concerts for Sale's new concert series, Sallow Tree Concerts at the Waterside Arts Centre.
